floristry

Jāņa ziedi

For Jāņa Ziedi, we turned the warmth of a family-run flower shop into an online store where a bouquet can be chosen, personalised and scheduled for delivery in a few steps. The website needed to keep the personal feeling of buying flowers in the shop while helping visitors quickly find a suitable bouquet, check its price and arrange delivery. We therefore combined the visual presentation with a structured product catalogue, flexible order options, online payments and service pages for businesses and regular customers. We sought a balance between an inviting presentation, a clear path to purchase and the ability for the team to keep the assortment current every day.

The brief

Buying flowers is rarely a purchase of a product alone. People are choosing a gesture for a particular moment: a birthday, an anniversary, an apology or simply an ordinary day. Jāņa Ziedi, a family-run flower shop in Riga working since 2020, needed a website that conveys this care and quality while allowing visitors to reach a specific bouquet and complete their order without calling the shop.

We developed a WordPress website with an integrated WooCommerce e-shop. The public side combines the shop's presentation, a catalogue of bouquets, cut flowers, houseplants and gifts, floristry services, customer feedback and information about the team. On the company side, the florists needed a place to manage products, prices, discounts, stock and incoming orders.

It was important to see the website as a shop that changes every day. Flowers are seasonal, assortments rotate and holidays such as 14 February, 8 March or Mother's Day bring sudden peaks in orders. We therefore considered both sides: how a visitor finds and personalises a bouquet, and how the people preparing the orders keep the offering up to date. Design and order management address the same shared task in this project.

What we delivered

In the visual approach, we sought a balance between the softness of floristry and a clear structure for the store. A deep navy header, warm cream accents and burgundy details establish the shop's colour language, leaving the strongest colours to the flowers themselves. Large photographs of real bouquets, often shown in the hands of the florists and customers, introduce the assortment, but they sit alongside clear prices and actions. The aim was a calm, consistent presentation in which the visual impression supports the choice.

In the catalogue, the differences between products matter. Category, flower type, price and availability give buyers a basis for comparison. The assortment is organised into a detailed tree, from roses by country of origin to bouquets, flower boxes, houseplants, seasonal Christmas floristry and gifts, complemented by a price filter and several grid views. Visitors need to be able to move from a general idea of "something beautiful" to a specific bouquet that suits the occasion and budget.

The next step matters just as much. On the product page, buyers can personalise their order with decorative packaging, extra greenery, a greeting card and comments for the florist, with the total updated as options are selected. At checkout they choose a delivery date and time interval, the delivery fee is calculated from the address. This makes the gesture, its personal details and its delivery part of one order.

  • We developed the website design and structure in Latvian, English and Russian. One website brings together the shop's story, the e-shop and the information needed to choose and order flowers.
  • We built a product catalogue organised by flower type, occasion and category. Price, discount, stock and photographs play an important role in each listing, allowing buyers to assess a specific bouquet.
  • We added product personalisation and a wishlist. Paid and free options such as packaging, greenery, greeting cards and comments let each order be adjusted without contacting the shop.
  • We set up checkout with delivery zones, date and time slots and online payments. Card payments, automatic delivery fees and a free delivery threshold support fast, predictable order fulfilment.
  • We created service pages for corporate clients, flower subscriptions, weddings, decoration and funeral floristry. Enquiry forms and galleries help the team collect requests for work that goes beyond a single bouquet.
  • We connected social media feeds, a newsletter sign-up and cookie consent. Technical SEO foundations and analytics help structure the website's information for search engines and track how visitors use it.

Result

Jāņa Ziedi gained a shared environment for presenting the flower shop and organising online sales. Buyers can explore the assortment, compare bouquets, personalise their order and choose when it should arrive, all on one website and in their own language.

The team can manage products, prices, discounts, stock and orders, and collect enquiries for corporate deliveries, subscriptions and event floristry. This connects what people see on the public website with the shop's daily work. The design's value lies in keeping the warm, personal identity of a family flower shop even in the sections where visitors need prices, options and a specific next action.

Technical foundation

WordPress provides the content management foundation for this project. It separates the information an editor maintains from the way pages present it, which is useful for a business website whose services, product information or contact details change over time. The project’s recorded tools are listed below so the platform can be considered alongside the visible interface. Content management is one part of the website: the visitor journey still depends on clear page structure, understandable descriptions and a useful next step. The examples in this portfolio show how those content and presentation concerns meet in this particular business.
