The brief
MyLocation set out to put every local business and service in Latvia onto a single map. Its audience is twofold: residents and visitors looking for a restaurant, a clinic, a car service or an event nearby, and the businesses that want to be found by them. Visitors should be able to start without signing up, choose a city or share their location, and compare places by category, distance, rating, price and opening hours.
We built the public side as a website and a mobile app. The website serves as the shop window and search entry point, with pages for nearby search, the business directory, offers, events, the Wheel of Fortune, pricing and frequently asked questions. The mobile app carries the full consumer experience: map and list search, favourites, reviews, events and the wheel. On the business side, companies register, manage their profile, locations, offers, posts, events and banners, and work with their team, either in the web portal or directly in the app.
The platform is designed to be run day to day. Administrators moderate new companies, posts, events, banners and wheel prizes, manage the category catalogue, look after payments and edit the marketing copy of the website in three languages. Prices can be adjusted from the administration panel, and businesses are notified in advance before any change takes effect.
What we delivered
The visual approach is warm and approachable. A bright orange accent marks the brand, calls to action and map pins, set against warm off-white backgrounds and near-black text, with a dedicated purple reserved for the Wheel of Fortune so that the game stands apart from everyday search. The website, portal and app share this palette and the same tone, so a business owner moving between the portal and the app feels at home in both.
The core of the platform is search. Results appear on a map and in a list with the same filters, and visitors can switch between them at any time. Each business profile shows the address or service area, working hours with an open-now status, contacts, services and prices, photos, reviews, and any current offers and events. These details matter because they let people decide without extra calls: whether a place is open, how far it is and what it costs. Categories are organised in two levels, and a business can appear under several of them, so it is found wherever a visitor might look.
The next step is connecting visitors with businesses and keeping the offering current. Free, Pro and Enterprise plans let companies grow from a single listing to a network of locations, with paid options for extra locations, event publication and advertising banners. New companies are checked against Latvian public business register data, and regulated categories such as healthcare are reviewed by an administrator before publication. Notifications keep owners informed when their profile, event or banner is approved, and when a payment needs attention.
- We developed a public website in Latvian, English and Russian, with landing pages for nearby search, cities, categories, offers, events and the Wheel of Fortune, built to be found through search engines and to lead visitors to the app.
- We built a mobile app for iOS and Android with map and list search, location-based results, opening hours, favourites, reviews and events. Business owners can also manage their company, locations, offers, posts, team and billing from the app.
- We created a business portal where companies register, edit their profile and locations, publish offers, posts and events, book banners, follow their reviews and invite managers. Owners and managers have separate permissions, and one person can look after several companies.
- We developed the Wheel of Fortune, a free weekly game in the app where users win coupons from nearby businesses. Businesses submit prizes for review, and sponsors can book a branded wheel or an industry week through the administration panel.
- We connected card payments for subscriptions, extra locations, event publication and banners, with invoices and a grace period for failed payments. Prices are always calculated by the platform and shown before the customer confirms a purchase.
- We provided an administration panel for moderating companies, posts, events, banners, reviews and wheel prizes, managing categories and amenities, reviewing payments and refunds, and editing the website's marketing content in all three languages.
- Technologies: Next.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, React Native, Expo, Stripe
Result
MyLocation now has a complete platform for local discovery: a public website and a mobile app for visitors, and a portal and administration panel for the businesses and the team behind them. Companies can register, verify their details, choose a plan and keep their profiles, offers and events current themselves, while the team retains control over what is published, how it is priced and how the Wheel of Fortune runs each week.
Visitors can find businesses near them across Latvia, see at a glance what is open, compare services, prices and reviews, save favourites and take part in the wheel for prizes from their neighbourhood. Because the website, the app, the portal and the administration panel all work from the same data, every change a business makes or an administrator approves appears for visitors straight away, and the warm, consistent design carries the same experience from the first search through to the business profile.
