The brief
In a driving school's daily work, one student's information connects to several processes: an application, a group, lessons, attendance, exams, contracts and payments. The work panel needs to make that wider picture understandable while allowing staff to carry out specific actions. For Galvenais Ceļš, we focused on an internal CRM for the driving school team.
The project's scope covered the panel interface, business logic and integrations. We used the client's existing logo and brand identity; designing the logo and public website was not part of this project. The existing website and student portal are connected systems with which the CRM exchanges information through APIs.
We wanted staff to be able to view connected information as one workflow. An application becomes a student record, lessons and attendance become part of the training history, and documents and billing add to that information. This also defined the design priorities: a clear structure, an understandable sequence of actions and attention to the information needed at that moment.
What we delivered
We sought a balance between a visually appealing interface and the information density of a work panel. Too many elements competing for attention make navigation harder, while an overly sparse layout can place related information too far apart. Our aim was to maintain an organised environment in which important data is clear and actions follow a logical sequence.
We considered design choices through everyday tasks. When checking a student's training progress, the connection between their record, group, lessons and attendance matters. When working on billing, invoices, payments and outstanding balances come to the foreground. These examples explain why information hierarchy is important in the panel: everything needs to be available, but not everything should demand equal attention at once.
The client's existing logo and colour identity maintain the connection to the driving school brand. Our design work focused on combining this identity with usability. The visual presentation should help people understand the system as a unified environment, while user roles and permissions determine which data and actions each person can access. The panel is intended for authorised users, rather than public access to student information.
- We developed application processing and conversion into student records. Group and training progress tracking connect the initial enquiry with the student's subsequent learning.
- We built lesson, attendance, instructor and exam management. These elements bring together the information needed to organise training and track its progress.
- We implemented contract and invoice generation from templates. Payment and outstanding balance tracking allow billing matters to be managed alongside training information.
- We connected the CRM to the client's existing public website and student portal through APIs. The work panel therefore fits into the driving school's existing set of digital tools.
- We integrated email and SMS notifications, along with a Telegram and WhatsApp communication inbox. These communication options support work with applications and student information.
- We developed user roles, access permissions and document management. Audit records of key actions provide information about activity within the system.
- Technologies: React, TypeScript, Vite, Django, Python, PostgreSQL, Redis
Result
The driving school team gained a shared workspace covering the process from the first application through training, documents and billing. The CRM connects student records with communication and financial processes and uses the client's existing brand identity.
In this project, good design means being able to understand the situation and continue working. The balance between appearance and usability is particularly important in a system the team uses repeatedly: it needs to be visually organised while leaving room for real tasks. We publicly present the project's approach and the client's brand context; the work panel itself and student data are accessible only to authorised users.
